WARDOGS release time in South Africa
WARDOGS unlocked at 18:00 SAST on Thursday 10 September 2026. It is out now, so the question has stopped being when and started being how to get downloaded and into a squad without wasting an evening.
Short version: it released at 18:00 SAST on Thursday 10 September 2026 and is available now. Buy it on Steam, start the 50 GB download, and join the Discord while it downloads so there is a squad waiting when it finishes.
The exact time
South Africa runs on SAST, which is UTC+2 all year — we do not do daylight saving, so there was no seasonal shift to work around. An 18:00 SAST unlock was a genuinely good hand for us: it landed after work and after school, on a Thursday, which meant a full evening on a fresh server rather than the usual situation where a game unlocks at 02:00 local time and every lobby is full by the time you wake up.
That release is behind us and it landed on time. Everything below is about getting in now.
Getting downloaded without losing the evening
The single biggest thing standing between you and a match is the download. It is a large file and the first evenings after a release are the busiest on everyone's line, so start it before you do anything else.
- Buy it on Steam at the WARDOGS store page and start the download immediately — everything else can be sorted out while it runs.
- Check you have 50 GB free. The download is 50 GB. Discovering you are short halfway through is a specific kind of pain.
- Join the Discord while it downloads. This is the step most people leave until the install finishes, and it is the one that decides whether you play with a squad or alone.
Our server
The Boet’s World community server runs 100 slots with Platinum-grade DDoS protection, and it is South African only — a house rule, enforced by the admins — so everyone connected is on a comparable ping — more on why that matters in our guide to the South African ping problem.
The connect details go out in the Discord. Supporters get dedicated access and a priority queue for when the server fills up, which in these first weeks it will.
What to do now
Join the Boet’s World Discord and say howzit. The people in there are the ones you will be playing with tonight, and a squad arranged before you queue beats dropping in alone and hoping.
The server address, downtime notices and events all land in the Discord first. Join here.
